This is an open page so I believe you can comment on what I post here. The bars are open and we are seeing less and less players participating in these online tournaments and that’s fine. This was a stop gap at most to keep the interest and support the players as we were all stuck at home. There are some things that still need to be worked out on the granboard app, however I believe that they are working on the many suggestions that everyone has had. Hopefully, this will be unveiled soon.
I see a lot of players are playing cash games – please be aware of who you’re playing $$ with some not so nice comments have been made. Now onto what I wanted to say this time around – we have 6 teams who are participating in a 6 week round robin tournament or league tournament. We are playing doubles and remote doubles that was capped at 21 and you have a week to play your match before the next one – it runs from Sunday to Sunday. This tournament is based on the number of games won – I think that I will be trying to report the standing here weekly. So far 4 teams have played their matches and these are the results:

Team Name 4/18/21WinsLoss
KND (Kid Next Door)
Club Mylynh’s94
Dick N Bitch67

Aloha All
This is the last day in May 2021 – it has been over 1 year since this pandemic started and as we make progress towards keeping the numbers down, so that at some point we might be able to see each other, I find myself questioning peoples judgements.
We have always had bullying to some extent however blaming any one race for the pandemic, that’s absurd – the spread of this virus is done by all, sure it may have started in Asia but it spread by tourism someone eating tainted food, someone trying an exotic dish, someone not telling others that they are sick and exposing countless people. This pandemic travelled world wide and to this day no one knows who patient zero is. As we speak new variants are popping up just like the flu, it’s mutating and becoming faster spread.
There are 2 options to this pandemic – take the shots or choose not to. Taking the shots will prevent getting the stronger death sentence of Covid-19, but it does not prevent you from getting it, just a milder case. Just because you got the shot it does not stop you from getting it. People are under the impression that it makes you immune – it does not say that only that you will get a mild case. Do not let your guard down, and think that everything is good because it’s not and after all is said and done the children is who we need to protect more than ever now. If you choose not to get the shot because of your believe that somehow this will alter you – think of your families especially the children and grand parents. A mild case may not be noted in the stats, so we may not know the true count of Covid-19 cases as more and more people take the shot. Be aware of where you have been and how cautious you were around large groups. We may not go back to tier 2 even though the numbers are rising again, our economy needs a boost, however please adhere to the mandates of social distancing. Wear your mask it helps everyone be protected against it. I may continue this later by adding on more of my opinions. Take care everyone and be safe.

Aloha Everyone sorry for being a bit forgetful on posting the Fun Friday & Saturday tournaments – I have a lot of things happening and hopefully after today things should be more stable. Most of the tournaments are listed in Events, so you can always get the links there. Since the bars are open and some have been doing darts and other not – I will continue to run these tournaments as long as there is interest. The LC are not very clear on the rules and I am not quite ready to go to the bars until all is confirmed.
Alan (Leisure Games) would like us all to finish up Super League make up games and be done by May. Tentative scheduling next week. Start of new PDL leagues to begin May 9th, 2021 to be eligible for Hawaii Classic. Those that are interested should get in touch with your coordinators to sign up.

Next Monday we are already in to March – time is flying and we are now into Tier 3 for Hawaii. Slowly we are starting to see some changes many business are on the brink of closures especially the small businesses and bars with no kitchen facilities. Bar openings is in Tier 4 but at least now some of the bars that have been doing restaurant business can have up to 10 people together instead of 5. This should help.
Personally I don’t know if I will be jumping back into the bar scene right away. I want to see how the new Tier will work and how many of the population will have the shots done. Currently I don’t see the number of persons vaccinated topping 50% yet and I still want everyone to be cautious but as with everything it will depend on the individual. I am glad that my daughter and son have been vaccinated and their significant others as well, however my grand children are still vulnerable as well as my husband and myself. I will be more comfortable when we are able to get at least 90% vaccinated, even the Johnson and Johnson brand would help.
I feel that our teens and young adults need to be innoculated first since they are our social butterflies that move around the community a lot. They are the ones that will bring the virus home I feel. Well that’s my opinion for now.

Hard to believe we are already one month into 2021 – hoping that we will soon be able to see one another, Now that we have a vaccine please do not let your guard down and think that everything will be ok. Until we reach a good level of vaccinated people we are still not immune to the virus. Too many variables to mention at this point.
I am hoping that we will be able to run leagues again but for the time being I will continue to run online tournaments. A lot of people are having issues with internet and wifi connections – please be aware of the parameters that Granboard puts out regarding your boards.
Compatibility: Bluetooth (MUST have Bluetooth 4.0 to connect with Granboard iOS)

Happy New Year Everyone!! Wishing for a better things to come. Tonight’s Singles tournament will include trophies and a small add in. Dennis Yoshimura has also contributed $$ to the pot. Good luck everyone hoping to play doubles tomorrow but that remains to be seen.
GranBoard has a new update please be sure to install the new update before play remote doubles – this corrected a number of issues that were being seen in playing remote doubles.

12/29/2020

Moving right along to 2021 – first off I want to let everyone know who participated in the Christmas Day tournament – I will mail out your prizes today. For those of you waiting for your trophies earned before Christmas they will also be mailed. Thank you all for understanding the lines were just too long to deal with at Christmas time.

I will be running a New Year’s Day Singles Tournament, best of 5 and handicapped. Until I know better your ratings we will do handicapped. For information on some of the happenings of this website and tournaments come back often to check the events. I normally post here first before going to Facebook.

I will continue to run Fun Friday tournaments – no entry and open to whom ever wants to play. Saturday will continue to be Granboard Hawaii Online group, this is the one where once a month trophies will be added. Add In $$ based on the number of players participating – right now there is no entry fee but in the future there maybe. Once the Granboard remote doubles is working properly – I would like to run doubles tournaments with no handicap. Food for thought everyone.

Have a nice day and Happy New Year!!!

First off I want to thank everyone who has played in my tournaments these past 9 months. It has shown me that there are some of us who love darts and are willing to play anytime. We did run a doubles tournament using the new remote doubles app from GranBoard – there were some glitches and GranBoard will be addressing them but until that update is available we will continue to have single’s tournament.

For those of you who are having some internet/WIFI problems when playing online with GranBoard, especially when playing my tournaments, here are a few suggestions to try:
If you were having internet and connections issues prior to last night, I have a few suggestions that may help. Your connection issues could be from the number of devices and apps you are running on your WIFI connection.
Example: you have your TV, phone, camera, tablet, GranBoard and computer all going thru the same router – that means you are trying to stuff a hot dog down a ¼ inch pipe – the router has no alternative but to attach these devices in sync order so maybe 3 sec TV, 2 sec phone, 1 sec camera, 2 sec tablet, 3 sec GranBoard and then to computer. If you turn off some of these devices that are not being used while playing, it could help your connection. You will have to decide what is best for you because it may not be your GranBoard it maybe your devices that are slowing you down.

Another problem you maybe in an area where there is heavy internet usage and your provider is close to maxing out their grid in your area. Your router might be too far from your GranBoard as well, the alternative to that is to get a WIFI booster which may or may not help or move the router closer to your board.

For those of you who are not familiar with the tournament program please learn how to update scores and watch for your matches – all the messaging back and forth really kills my phone since I am doing both texting and messenger since no one seems to want to use the forum on the tournament app., which is ok I don’t mind, but it’s hell to play a match with my phone going off and sometimes I forget to take my watch off so I get vibrated while playing (haha). I know this is my problem and not yours, so please bear with me when playing. Please ask one of the other players on how to report the scores, I don’t win that often and have not used the process – I’m the administrator so I can enter the score a different way and that is how I can update when you are unable to post your score.

I love the interaction that comes from playing these tournaments, it gives us a little socializing though not quite the same as at the bars but at least we can see and hear each other. Once the remote doubles is working properly we will be able to see all 4 persons and interact with each other – maybe even toast each other with a shot for those who drink and play.

With that being said I will be running a New Years Day tournament(s) – I have not decided whether this will handicapped or non handicapped – I may even break it down by ratings, just haven’t quite worked it out in my mind yet so keep watching the Events for more information.

12/27/2020
Well this is the last week for the year 2020 and it’s been a very unusual year, so much has happened beyond our control. I hope that I have made some difference to the people I love and care about.

Since Covid-19 has arrived all of our lives have changed, some for the better others have been devastated by it all. Why some people cannot understand the true ramifications to all that is going around us, I don’t understand. We were the children of our parents who wanted a better world for us all and yet we have raised some self centered uncaring persons. How can we change the way we are, I don’t know nor do I think that we can justify how the world is now. Yes we all want better things for our children and grand children but where is the humility or compassion, did we forget about those principles? There are so many differences and how we look at each other, what happened to just being friends and doing what’s right? Did we forget to teach that to our children or did we just raise children with so much anger and rebellion, did we spare disciple for what we thought was love. Don’t get me wrong I believe in giving our children the opportunity to be self sufficient and independent, however respect and I mean respect should not be alleviated to achieve this. Ok enough venting – I hate all the me me attitudes that’s affecting our judgement – you all have an opinion and I have an opinion, but that shouldn’t get in the way of having fun or communication with each other – just don’t bring up the differences. I made it a point not to talk politics even if someone wants to try – I ignore them and eventually they stop trying to convince me their way. Let’s just be friends!

As we close out 2020, I ran my last online dart tournament for 2020 and looking forward to 2021. I have not decided how I will start the New Year or how I will run tournaments. Financially the tournaments add ins will decrease – after looking over 2020 – I need to cut back. There will be many changes for me this year. Our building permits were approve for us to build our house on 9th Avenue in Kaimuki. As you may recall the original house was destroyed totally by fire in 2019 and was not insured, After getting the house demolished, we decided to try and rebuild if we could get a loan to cover it, however before we could do anything about that the City said we had to demolish the house because it was a hazard, so out of pocket came the monies for that. We hired an architect to draw up plans for the house and we submitted them to DPP. With all the going back and forth on the plans it was finally approved in November, but not before I had to fork out more money to move the existing water meter from it’s original location and my neighbors as well since they were both located in the same area. We had our first meeting with the builders who gave us a reasonable bid and estimated build time of 7 months. So excited that we may be living in our own house by the end of next year. But with every bubble we are still waiting on the ok from the bank that our loan went through. That being said for the first seven months of construction I will be paying both mortgage and rent until the house is completed – then comes the appliances and furnishing. Lots to do for 2021.

I will still run tournaments on Friday’s and Saturday’s, until they allow the bars and restaurants to open and have leagues and tournaments. If this continues on and nothing gets open – we can run round robin and league events using the tournament app that I use, however we will have to figure out a way to make it more interesting and give people the incentive to participate. I cannot imagine how much revenue the bars and restaurants are losing because of the shutdowns and openings and tier levels. I myself don’t even know whether I would go back to the bars right away, even with the vaccine.
